Position Summary/Description:

One-year, fixed term appointment in the Department of Communication with specialization in performance studies, beginning July 1, 2017. Responsibilities include teaching a 3-2 load of undergraduate and graduate courses in performance studies. Teaching in performance studies may include courses in performance practice, performance theory and/or advanced studies in performance as a method of inquiry. The ideal candidate will also be expected to teach a large section of "introduction to performance," which involves supervising five graduate student teaching assistants with their own recitation sections. The department is committed to critical studies, the integration of practice and theory, and a broad range of performance centered studies. Salary is competitive.

Education Requirements:

Ph.D. in communication studies or related discipline with a specialization in performance studies.

Qualifications and Experience:

The successful candidate should have a record of excellence in teaching and research strengths in performance study, with a possible secondary focus in an area such as performance and oral history, performance-as-research, performance in global contexts, gender & sexuality, citizenship & immigration, theatrical adaptation, performance art, community-based performance and performance for social change.
