Politics and Community Engagement in Doctoral Theatre Research

8th doctoral conference in theatre practice and theory POLITICS AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT IN DOCTORAL THEATRE RESEARCH 3–4 November 2017, Theatre Faculty of JAMU, Brno, Czech Republic

The increasing political tension around the globe in many respects poses a challenge to current theatre practice as well as to its scholarly reflection. The intensity of theatre’s political engagement has grown on many levels and has been mediated through different genres, often referred to as political theatre“, “documentary theatre”, “radical theatre” or “applied theatre”.

At the conference, theatre’s political, i.e. participatory, mobilizing and potentially transformative aspects will be discussed by theatre makers and researchers who are currently working on their Ph.D.
