The Department of Media Culture and Theatre, Faculty of Arts and Humanities, at the University of Cologne welcomes applications for the following position
Professorship (W2) "Popular Culture Studies"
The position is to begin April 1st, 2016.
The Professorship represents the study of popular culture in a broad historical and methodological perspective. This can encompass sociological, anthropological and Cultural Studies approaches – a focus on media in the broadest sense is mandatory.
The future job holder is expected to be committed to teaching and research in the context of the Department of Media Culture and Theatre. The successful candidate is also supposed to teach within the unit “Fächergruppe 1” which also includes the Department of Art History and the Department of Musicology.
The professorship’s teaching commitments include degree courses in the various programs of “Medienkulturwissenschaft”, equally on the BA- as well as on the MA-level. In addition the future appointee is expected to contribute to the planned MA-program inter artes in cooperation with the Departments of Art History and Musicology.
