New MA Programme in International Dramaturgy at the University of Amsterdam

18 November, 2015

The Dept. of Theatre Studies, University of Amsterdam has launched a professional 18-month MA Programme in International Dramaturgy, geared at training future generations of professionals in the diverse areas of the performing arts, specifically those who will work across cultural, linguistic, social or national boundaries.

Theatre and performance practice has increasingly moved towards international and cross-cultural collaborations, with festivals and performance venues hosting artists and groups from across the world, and artists traversing borders in many ways. International Dramaturgy seeks to inculcate practical as well as theoretical skills in critical encounters within international performance contexts. The focus of the programme is on practices of cultural translation in theatre and performance research.

Students with a Bachelor in Theatre Studies or equivalent credits in related fields are eligible.
As the programme is oriented towards cultural exchange, doing a semester abroad in one of our partner universities is encouraged, though not required. The programme strives a balance between intensive coursework, practice-based components, a field internship, and summer and winter schools accompanying the research-based dissertation projects.

For information on admission requirements, selection procedures, fees, course contents, international partner universities and further details, check the website for updates:

Application deadline for international students: 01 March 2016
