FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

 

The Ph.D. Program in Theatre at the City University of New York's Graduate Center seeks to hire a tenured Associate or Full Professor.  Internationally recognized scholars whose work is transnational and collaborative in scope are especially encouraged to apply.  We seek a breadth of candidates but are particularly interested in applications from theatre and performance historians working in periods prior to 1900 and engaged in one or more of the following research areas:  theatre and performance in relation to the humanities; European theatre and performance; embodied performance; visuality and performance; digital humanities and the archive.  We wish to attract scholars who approach theatre and performance studies from an interdisciplinary and multilinguistic perspective through historically and theoretically grounded research.  The successful candidate will be expected to teach a range of courses, including required core courses, as well as advise and direct a range of research projects.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

For the position, a Ph.D. and extensive previous experience in all facets of a faculty position are required, with experience on thesis and/or dissertation committees preferred and a demonstrated commitment to advising and mentoring.  Minimum qualifications will include demonstrated excellence in teaching and research, and dedicated professional service.  Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
