Popular Entertainment Studies

 

This is to announce the publication of the March 2014 issue of this international online journal.

 

The issue is a special focus one on popular entertainments in times of war and contains articles that range from World War 1 concert parties to those of World War 2 and the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, front line pantomimes, female impersonators and the untiring efforts of prisoners-of-war to harness popular entertainments to their strategies for survival.

The journal, now in its fifth year of operation, is the direct outcome of the work undertaken by the IFTR’s Popular Entertainments Working Group and is edited by IFTR members Victor Emeljanow and Gillian Arrighi.
