Lecturer A in Theatre and Performance, Birkbeck College, University of London

02 July, 2014

Applications are invited for a full-time, open-ended Lectureship in Theatre and Performance in the Department of English and Humanities.

You will be involved in our lively research community and will make a full contribution to the Department's international research profile. You will work with the Theatre Studies team to contribute to the delivery and extension of existing programmes at undergraduate, taught masters and research levels. You will be able to demonstrate a commitment to the development of innovative approaches to teaching, both in the seminar room and in the rehearsal room, as well as undertaking appropriate administrative duties.

You should have a good first degree and have completed, or have recently submitted, a PhD in a relevant subject area, and show evidence of published research or exceptional potential. Teaching experience at postgraduate degree level is desirable.

While we welcome strong applicants in any area, we would particularly welcome applicants with research strengths in the areas of dramaturgy and socially engaged performance practice.

As well as contributing to the planning and development of Theatre Studies, your contribution to teaching will initially include BA Theatre and Drama Studies and MA Text and Performance (with RADA).

Interviews are due to be held in the week commencing 11 August 2014
